Little Eva (geboren als Eva Narcissus Boyd op 29
juni 1943 in Belhaven - overleden in Kinston, 10
april 2003) was een Afro-Amerikaanse zangeres.
Haar eerste solo-opname was het door King en Goffin
geschreven nummer The Loco-Motion, dat
in juni 1962 door het pas opgerichte platenlabel
Dimension werd gepubliceerd. In een korte periode
bereikte het zelfs de 1e plaats van de Billboard Hot
100.
Internationaal had de song eveneens succes.
In Groot-Brittannië bereikte het de 23e plaats van
de hitparade. De daarop volgende opnamen konden zich
aan dit succes niet meten, maar tot 1963 kwamen
meerdere titels in de Hot 100. In 1963 ging ze samen
met Brian Hyland op tournee door Groot-Brittannië
en Frankrijk.
Door de Britse invasie die veroorzaakt werd door
o.a. The Beatles, verminderde vanaf
1964 haar populariteit. In 1965 verscheen haar
laatste single bij Dimension. Daarna verschenen in
onregelmatige afstanden nog platen bij enkele
kleinere labels. In 1970 nam ze afscheid van het
muziekpodium en keerde naar Belhaven terug.
